Motorcycle Madness…
Looking at the men’s fall 2006 Millan shows, there was a definite direction for jackets. There was a tremendous amount of motorcycle styled jackets. In the assemblage above we have men’s styles by Alexander McQueen and D&G, and Kate is wearing some Dior from long ago and Daria is sporting her own personal leather.
McQueen handles the moto silhouette in a fresh way throughout his collection, the main detail being the zipper. The styles are constructed in heavily washed leather in a periwinkle color which takes the jacket away from cliché tough boy looks thus elevating it to the status of a peacoat/blazer. Another nice jacket is entirely constructed from fleece/sweatshirt material, by using a camel color he evokes an equestrian feel which is toughened by the moto implications.
D&G attempted the moto silhouette in leather and in denim. Their leather piece (shown bottom left, behind Daria) is a pretty traditional style, but has a slight nautical feel which sits well with their collection. I actually prefer their denim piece more, the jacket’s slim styling makes it approachable and easy to wear.
I have one final styling note regarding this trend…ladies, if you dare to wear this look please remember that unless you are striving to look uber butch, it’s best to pair this tough girl jacket with soft natural hair cascading around your shoulders a la Kate Moss.

this isn’t a look i would normally go for, but the photo with kate and the leather one in the bottom right are super chic.

Great looking jackets, but the ones wearing the jackets are even hotter! LOL
