Project Runway:Muscle Man!

Thursday, January 12th, 2006

1.10 zulema sucks .jpgI’m not even going to get into Marla and Dirty Diana, let’s just try to forget…Let’s turn our focus to Kara and Zulema who were a true atrocity in both their behavior and in their end product. I’m not sure what the difficulty was with the navy charmeuse, for a base fabric anything would have better than that large circle print. Z has a serious attitude problem which is going to be her demise later in the show. The silhouette of their 2nd attempt conveyed some of Kara’s youthful style, sort of an H+M sort of look. But let’s not forget the muscle man jacket, what is this Dog Bounty Hunter? As for their window display, the concept was too literal, and the NY cutout idea was childish and poorly executed.

Prediction for the Golden Globes…

Wednesday, January 11th, 2006

scarlett johanson prediction golden globes

The 2006 Golden Globes are coming up, and everyone is buzzing about who is going to wear what. I’ve complied this picture as my prediction for Scarlett’s attire for the occasion. Kaufman says of Johansson for People’s siteShe’s a red-carpet chameleon – that’s why she’s so much fun to watch,’. Scarlett will be attending the event as a best supporting actress nominee for Match Point. This risk-taker has worn Roland Mouret and Marchesa in the past, and apparently is open to experimentation. With that being said this Yohji Yamamoto dress should be her natural choice.

Lohan denies barfing…

Tuesday, January 10th, 2006

1.10lindsay-lohan-toothpick03-7452971.jpgAccording to a statement given to TEEN PEOPLE, Barf-Bag-Lohan claims to not be bulimic. She claims that Vanity Fair misused and misconstrued her words. Lindsay’s publicist, Leslie Sloane Zelnik, told the press that Lohan does not have bulimia now, nor did she ever. Vanity Fair insists their reliable reporter Evgenia Peretz has every word that Lindsay muttered on tape, and they are standing by their story.

BTY-It seems as though Little Lindsay is hooking up with Big Leo DiCaprio.  Rumor has it that he has been sneaking into her hospital room to feed her chocolates.  Now that she has been released they are making plans to sail around the Carribean before she starts work on her new film.

Britney:Worst Dressed

Tuesday, January 10th, 2006

1.10 bad britney.jpgFashion guru Mr. Blackwell has deemed Ms. Spears the Worst Dressed Star of 2005. Although I can think of countless fashion accidents Ms. Brit has been involved in, the incident in the video store, the unfortunate thong, and so on. Her inclusion on the list doesn’t really seem fair because it’s not like she’s a star anymore, it’s as if Blackwell is picking on a frequently photographed civilian.

Baby Doll…

Tuesday, January 10th, 2006

11.9miumiu1.jpg11.9 Ana mini1.jpgEvery season there is always a fashion meme, fashion designers across the board somehow all channel the same color and the same silhouette. Here is an example of such a phenomenon with these darling eyelet baby doll tunics for Spring 2006, the dress to the left is by Miu Miu and the dress shown on the right is by Anna Sui. Jill Stuart also had some cute baby dolls in white, but I’m really partial to the eyelet.

I’m going to have to make one of these mini-dresses for myself and spend some quality time figuring out how to actually wear one of these things out in public without looking like a skank. What do you guys think? Leggings, tight jeans, let me know your thoughts

Rigor Mortis Tinkerbell…

Tuesday, January 10th, 2006

11.9tinkerbellpurse.jpgHere is a bag designed by James Piatt entitled ‘Tinkerbell’ which is constructed out of leather and cutting wit. This tiny clutch is most definitely a response to Paris Hilton’s rat dog and all of those bitches out there who thought that Chihuahuas and Pugs were equivalent to a purse. Let this be a lesson to Paris and her posse, carrying small animals around as an accessory is soooo 2005.

If only this purse came in white it would be the most perfect change for this year… (more…)

More on NY TOPSHOP…

Monday, January 9th, 2006

Harrod’s Girl wanted to know more about the NY TOPSHOP and how it compares to the Oxford Street Top Shop in Londion, I thought that you all might want to know too, so here’s my response:

The Top Shop in NY is soooooooo drastically different than the one in London. You enter on a small street off of Canal St (our crazy China Town st). Topshop is actually within another small store, Opening Ceremony. OC is very international and homemade looking. In the very back of the store you go up a small stairwell and then you have a mini Topshop. Seriously it’s the size of my bedroom. They carried key items (mostly what, I believe, they were previously calling the Siouxsie Collection) consisting of that amazing b+w striped bubble tunic, narrow grey jeans, lots of bags, and a few pairs of shoes. My friends and I were the only people in the entire store! It’s very boutique and very calm, pretty much the exact opposite of the Oxford Street Top Shop.

I hope all of you fashionistas out there in the NY and Philly areas get a chance to check it out!

‘Dick Clark is a very classy man’-HD

11.7 HD looking stupid.jpg

OMG! Thanks to Lera we have now solved the mystery of the mis-dressed New Year’s maven. It turn’s out it’s none other than Hillary Duff. Funny how we were so drunk on NYE to have thought it may have been MJ Blige or Mariah. It turns out that HD has a blog of her own at AOL, unfortunately you have to be a member to read it so we’ll provide it for your reading pleasure:

My New Years was soooo much fun and didn’t seem like work. I co-hosted Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Years Eve Celebration with Ryan Seacrest and a host of talented singers and performers! I am so excited that I am getting ahead of myself. The night was awesome. Ryan Seacrest made everything really exciting. Dick Clark is a very classy man. (more…)

Valenki…

Saturday, January 7th, 2006

ValenkiAlthough Russia is not as trendy as it was in 2005, these Valenki’s are worth checking out. By definition they are a Russian felted wool boot popular for 300 years. All of Russia wore these shoes from peasants to royalty. For a mere $70 dollars you can set yourself apart from this silly fuzzy boot craze of the moment. They also offer kids sizes which are very cute..

Good Bye Phoebe!!! You did such a better job with this dress than that lame Marla did on Project Runway-XOXO

Topshop in NYC

Thursday, January 5th, 2006
11.5 bag.jpg

Today I picked up this bag at the NYC Topshop within Opening Ceremony (35 Howard St NY, NY)  Mine is a nice warm brown color. Opening Ceremony is a cute men’s/women’s store in SOHO which dedicates a large portion of their space to promoting international designers. Every year Opening Ceremony focuses on a new designer/brand, and this year the choice was Topshop. The Topshop environment was drastically different than that of the original Topshop (in London) which is the equivalent to a mega H&M on speed. Opening Ceremony hosts a chill atmosphere with soft lighting and plenty of elbow room. Although it’s tucked away on Howard Street, I’ll definitely make the pilgrimage out there again. Thanks Lizz W for pulling me and my aching feet down the street!

No more big belts!!!

Thursday, January 5th, 2006

11.5 horsehair belt.jpgToday while I was shopping I stumbled upon an amazingly cute boutique on Elizabeth Street (in New York) called Mayle. It’s an extremely cool clothes shop which is absolutely charming, despite being closet-sized there was enough room for my friends and Claire Danes. I was really interested in a vintage braided horse hair belt. The large belt over sweater look should have been over a long time ago…please join me in my thin belt brigade! The belt shown in the picture is the closest imitation of Mayle’s belt I could find on the web.

Mystery Woman…

Wednesday, January 4th, 2006

fendi_buckle 1.4.jpgCan any of our readers identify what celebrity was performing New Year’s Night wearing this Fendi Belt? I have scoured the internet, turned to the Associated Press, harassed the boys from NPR, but apparently everyone was too drunk to know who was on the tube with such horrid style.
The anonymous performer was committing the following fashion offenses:

1) A beret

2) Bad Fendi belt-I don’t care what Karl says about Silvia; I’m just not seeing it.

3) Angled/Side Pony Tail

I look forward to solving this style mystery with your help!
