****update***Sorry Ladies. Flats never look good no matter how good your legs are. Now that it’s warm, the leggings have no reason for being. Rather than flats, I recommend a nice sexy pair of towering pumps. I’m salivating over a very sexy pair at (gasp!), Steve Madden. I’m developing a love for grey suede pumps. A Dries Van Noten pair from a few seasons ago got me interested.
If you follow the advice concerning the flats, then why would you want to cover your legs with dodgy leggings? Everyone in New York is wearing them, the cute and uncute all have them on. Be fashion forward and try something new!

Amen to the early death of the ballerina flat (especially the spectator ballerina). As for the early peaking black leggings, as much as i hate the trend, I think it’s going to be around as long as people are trying to pretend that short trousers are the next big thing.

My opinion. But since living in the last corner of germany the people here are just starting to adopt the ballerinas and leggins (+ denim mini) trend. It’s so lame. Everyone was looking at me wearing leggins +mini two years ago with a certain kind of disgust, anyway…
I never really liked ALL the ballerina styles. I’ll stick to my clean black ones. I still like leggins but styled differently. Actually I prefer the Pradaesque longstocking thing combinded with wedges.

Aw, but people in NYC need to be able to walk a lot, especially if they can’t afford cabs and don’t want to wait for a subway. There’s no way I’m giving up my flats! It’s too embarrassing to ask my guy friends to slow down for me when we’re on our way somewhere because my feet hurt or I don’t want to twist my ankle, and there’s nothing less sexy/confident than a girl who can’t walk in heels and thinks she can.
Agree about the leggings, though! I still think the long leggings look is sweet and kind of dancer-y, but they’re just making people look like lemmings at present.

all of these styles are old! I saw the ballerina flat style in the uk back in 2003. By the time it got to the usa that was dead! The same with the pointy heels, they’re old! america receives uk and EU style about 2 to 4 years after it ended in the rest of the world.
I do agree with the no mini/leggings thing, but flats are def. not out. Especially the new Croc Flats that Croc has come out with.
In the winter, I bet the trend will be back up. I know here in Canada it will be up with Ugg Boots, Leggings & Minis.

Hell, one of my buddies is walking around in JUST leggings and a weird tannish canvas t-shirt constantly, with a bowed pair of a pastel rainbow ballet flats… At least.. With the canvas and no pants/skirt.. She looks -sorta- more original than all her friends.
