Chinese Faux Paw

China Street Style Shanghai

I recently got back from a short trip to Beijing and Shanghai. Street style in China is definitely much more restricted than it is in Japan, but some are trying to take it to the next level, one way or another. As we all have heard ad nauseum China is the next big thing, after being there I tend to agree. However, as seen in the image above, this couple from Shanghai is trying a bit too hard. Notice the expression of disbelief on the face of the umbrella vendor.

disbelief? maybe he wasn’t looking at them. maybe he was thinking of something else. you can’t really say how he felt that day, right?

anon, you may be right about that. however, from my personal experience in china is that people stare in disbelief at anything that stands out, where it’s chinese wearing ridiculous outfits or westerners wearing shorts in early april.
