I picked up a great, birch inspired, silver cuff bracelet from Twigs and Heather at the Renegade Craft sale (pictured above, top). This amazing twin sister design team’s work is inspired by nature. They use items such as twigs, acorns, maple seeds and sea glass. Each piece is handmade and one-of-a-kind, using the lost wax and natural burn out casting methods.

Parasols are in! I love this cute girl’s style at Renegade. I’ve been loving Mexican inspired garments for the summer. Her top is especially great because it’s embroidery is a modern version of the traditional fare. I’m all for reconstructing old Mexican muumuus; I’m actually in the process of revamping one for me. I’ll be back with pictures when the project is complete!

Hi Everyone! We are proud to announce that Lucyology (our t-shirt line) has made it’s official name change to MoonblooD. Our new website (Moonblood.net), will be up and running probably by the end of next week. We’ve got four new designs, new colors for current designs and two cool tote-bags, one featuring the graphic above. Come see us and all our great new products at the Renegade Craft Fair (at McCarren Park, 12th and Bedford in Brooklyn, NY), just 5 short blocks north of the Bedford L stop. There are going to be over 150 modern crafters selling their wares this weekend (both Saturday the 17th and Sunday the 18th). Come see us at booth #26. Stefanie Chambers will also be at the craft fair, for all of you unable to make it to the show check out her site.

Another great find from the Art for the Cash Poor craft sale. This beautiful necklace is by Allison Tarcelli. I love the ragged quality of the ribbon mixed with her clean silver working techniques.

Here we have my favorite purchases of the day at Art for the Cash Poor, an awesome craft festival in north east Philadelphia. I’ve also spotted Alison Corrie’s work at Cinders gallery in Brooklyn.

Single tier skirts and dresses are the wave of the future!!!

single_tier.jpg

Single tier garments are the wave of the future (exhibit A+B, shown above). We have all been struggling with what the next skirt shape is, and here is my answer. The fashion industry constantly complicates skirts, always looking for a clever way to freshen up the most basic and necessary of garments. Let’s walk away from the skirt of last summer as (exhibit C, shown above) which is constructed from tier upon tier. Instead embrace the single tier looks shown above in examples A+B…I’ve recently purchased exhibit A at Vagabond (in Philadelphpia). It’s a one-of-a-kind jumper by Arwen Spargo. She runs the pattern in a variety of prints, stripes, knits, and wovens. Exhibit B is a recent purchase by my roommate, it can be worn as summer chic rather than being Boho as the single tiered long skirt has been in the past. I recommend keeping this shape neutral, i.e. beige or washed black to keep it from being too Calypso looking.

Another print I found while vacationing in NJ…It’s rare to find a print that contains all of these motifs, i.e. ships, fishing gear, bullets, pipes, horse show ribbons and archery supplies.
