Knit Trees at Treehouse…

This weekend while exploring the areas off the beaten track in Brooklyn, I discovered the work of Kim Hamlin showcased at Treehouse. Kim’s knit trees are genius. Check out her homepage for more pics of her knit forest. Kim is also the author and designer behind Posh Pooches, a how-to book on knitting dog sweaters. Treehouse is located at 430 graham ave, just a few short blocks from the graham ave L-train stop. The store is co-founded by Rebecca Lee, a jewelry designer and proprietor extraordinaire of Becky Lee jewelry and fashion designer Siri Wilson who creates a one-of-a-kind line Sirius*. Their shop is an unusual combination of cute crafting books, small designer wares, vintage clothing and also functions as a craft school and design resource center.

That is amazing! I am curious how she gets it to hold its shape. I’m assuming with some stuffing and wire, but I’d think that would be rather tricky. I also liked the sea creatures on her website. I love seeing the usual things people knit. It really inspires me.
