Cold Weather Fashion Question: Tights with shorts?

11.3_shannoncutiepie.jpg

Here at Seamsters we often get questions from our readers. I recently got a question from one of our loyal readers, Thea which many readers may be asking themselves this time of year. She was wondering if tights with shorts were fashionable, because she was digging this look shown above. I have to say that normally I would be opposed, but for some reason my intuition says go for it! First off, anything is better than leggings. Secondly, the white tights shown above are soooo Marie Antoinette (which is a good thing, fashion-wise, that is). Just keep in mind, you’ve got to have great legs to pull of shorts, especially when paired with tights because it draws a lot of attention. So, if you look in the mirror and you think you look great go for it. If you look and the mirror and think you look chunky, chances are that you do in fact look chunky.

I think you’re on to something. . . While shopping lately I’ve seen quite a bit of tweed wollen shorts: obviouslly meant for cold weather, which makes tights of some kind essential. It reminds me of Revolutionary War era men’s wear (ie: knickers), which is, infact, Marie Antoinnete’s era as well!

Word. I’m positive I wore this look when I was 12 (with cordorouy shorts that would be far too long by today’s standards). Right now, I just don’t have the stems to pull this off. But others certainly can.

Tights beneath shorts is an excellent solution for girls who live in cities where it is warm most of the year. I own very few pairs of pants because I opt for tights instead!

Great idea for the spring / fall season and possible summer season. Lighter tights or color pantyhose of course for the summer. Great look! seen it in Beverly Hills / Los Angeles Area.
