Wedding shoes resolved?
Wednesday, January 31st, 2007
Finding the right wedding dress was easy, but finding the perfect shoes to match is the tricky part. I wanted to wear heels, but I’m trying to be practical being that it’s an outdoor ceremony and reception. I’m a girl that loves heels (mostly because I have chubby ankles and heels do wonders for covering that up!)…but these flats might be the answer to me getting through the day without sinking into the lawn. And it doesn’t hurt that they are from Delia’s and are only $42, they also come in black, turq, and pale yellow.
Do we dare to think about swimsuits while there is snow on the ground…

Although I am in no shape to be strutting my stuff at the moment, I’m thinking ahead to the summertime and what swimsuits I’ll be wearing at the shore (and on my honeymoon!).
New obsession…Heritage 1981
Sunday, January 28th, 2007
Okay, so I now have a new shopping obsession…Heritage 1981. Now, I have to admit I felt old having been born before 1981, but I took a deep breath and managed to enter the store to be welcomed by soooo many cute affordable pieces. Heritage is owned by Forever 21 but is a bit more of a preppy combination of Free People meets Hollister. The prices are a little bit higher ($25-$50), than Forever 21, but still cheaper than H&M. The fabrications are much nicer, i.e. yarn dyed plaids galore, heavy printed knits in fun shapes, and lots of great distressed and faded looking historical style prints. But for all of you 9-5ers there are no career clothes and absolutely no club clothes. There is a decent sized men’s section even in this pint sized King of Prussia, PA location with men’s tees priced around $12. There are a few strange overlaps between Forever 21, such as a few of the same prints in slightly different ‘bodies’, and the accessories carry Forever 21′s packaging. I’d like to be more fooled by their branching of labels, but overall I’m totally obsessed.
Which Paris flea market is the best?
Thursday, January 25th, 2007
Leo and I have decided to take a little trip to Paris in a couple weeks and I’m trying to plan out our shopping itinerary. I always love a good flea market and in the past I’ve had great luck at Vanves and I’m also looking forward to going to check out St-Ouen for the first time. Does anyone recommend any other must see flea markets or shops for vintage clothing, fabrics, and amazing ancient trims?

Thursday, January 25th, 2007Proenza for Target…
Thursday, January 25th, 2007
Proenza,Proenza,Proenza everywhere I turn there is so much hype over this line for Target so I figured I’d jump on the bandwagon to deliver you some news about it. If you can’t wait until it hits the target stores, head over to Opening Ceremony (35 Howard Street,at Broadway & Lafayette Streets in NY) between Febuary 2nd-5th to get some Proenza merch before it even hits the Target stores. I’m not a hardcore Proenza fan, but I do feel that this Hawaiian thing is going to be huge for summer so, happy shopping!

Inspiration…I love seeing a good photoshoot, one that shows a new perspective on beauty, clothing, and character. I love Mariacarla Boscono as the model (especially as a bruenette!), and I am deeply envious of her makeup artists’s ability to wave around a little Yves Saint Laurent liner with such perfection.
Forever 21…forever
Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007
The other day I ventured out to the mall…yes I actually went into a mall (gasp!). The one and only reason was to go on a shopping mission to Forever 21. Above are two of my finds from the excursion. Shopping at Forever 21 is a little habit that I just can’t kick after getting hooked on the shop in midtown (NY). I used to be such an H&M sort of girl, but these days Forever 21 seems to fit my needs best. Their quick interpretations of Topshop and the catwalks have a higher-end sensiblitiy compared to H&M. My trick to pulling off the looks is to size up. I tend to be a small in most shops, but I opt for mediums and larges which helps the pieces look more designer-y. Which store do you all prefer, Forever 21 or H&M?
Cork flats…
Monday, January 22nd, 2007
Lately I feel like everyone I talk to is pining over what flats to wear to work. I was paging through nymag.com (one of my favorite sources for what’s going on) and I came across these amazing cork flats. I love that they are similar to the vintage ones you often come across while thrifting, but actually come in your size! For the mere price of $265 and a jaunt down to Jeffrey (449 W. 14th St) these can be yours.
Toile de Jouy slips…
Sunday, January 21st, 2007
I love these toile de jouy slips by Free People. They are so cute and could even double as a dress if I wished. Such a nice contrast from the normal sort of lingerie you see at the typical stores.
Manoush…
Friday, January 19th, 2007
I’m loving the Manoush website. I’ve been a long time fan of Manoush, and always saw the line in my favorite boutiques, but never even thought to see if they had a site. I got curious just now, and took a gander and was pleasantly surprised. Small lines always tend to have weird non-functioning websites, but this one is a feast for the eyes! The styling absolutely perfect and beautifully arranged mixing and matching so many inspirations/ideas from morrocan-ish belts to femme embroideries which feel like treasured doilies.
Bold Prints+Patterns for your home…
Thursday, January 18th, 2007
I’m in love with this couch (which is pictured in Elle Decoration). Everything is amazing about it, from the high quilted back, to the printed seat it’s brilliant. Growing up we never had couches because my parents (who designed furniture+products at the time) had the utmost disdain for couches and all things too lounge-y. But this is one couch I think even my mom & pop could enjoy!
64th Annual Golden Globes…
Tuesday, January 16th, 2007
Well, what kind of fashion blog would this be if I didn’t mention the Golden Globes. I’m not really a gown sort of girl, but here are some ladies that deserve an honorable mention. I always love Chloë Sevigny, in a vintage Yves Saint Laurent I think it’s great that she opted to wear a print. No matter how wacky her looks always are, she always looks contemporary and fun. The only thing I didn’t ‘get’ about the styling was the shoes, they were too chunky. I love Sienna Miller’s milk maid hair, but the Marchesa dress was a bit stuffy for her. And last but not least, Jennifer Garner, in Gucci looked nice and elegant. I love the simplicity of her dress and her casual and modern approach to hair and makeup.
Prada-esque head wraps…
Tuesday, January 16th, 2007
Alas, everything looks better in Teen Vogue…I love the idea of these wacky Prada-esque pin-up girl headbands, but I’m seriously doubting my ability to rock these outside of the house. What do we all think, do any of you dare to sport it on the street?
Cute Camis…
Monday, January 15th, 2007
I stopped into Urban Outfitters the other day, and fell in love with these two tops. I had to even purchase two of the cami on the left! I absolutely adore the blue and black polka-dot cami shown on the right (it’s by Free People). Blue and black are one of my all-time favorite color combos, I think it’s going to be next weeks purchase…
