Trend or Not? Jazz shoes…

default.jpg
So, I have a burning question for you all. What do we think about these shoes?
I keep seeing them pop up in photoshoots and so many of the cutest girls in Williamsburg are sporting them, but why do I hate the ideas of these pseudo jazz shoes so much??? Is this trend only happening because Kirsten Dust was seen sporting a white pair? What do you think, is this good or bad fashion?

i love them. i’ve been searching for a nice pair for months to no avail. i do think it’ll be a quickie fad though.

I would normally say it is just a faze and that it is kind of ridiculous, but recently I bought a pair of cute little shoes from the girl selling vintage clothes at Artists and Fleas in Williamsburg. They are very tap inspired and I love them. I posted them on my blog, check them out!

I like these because they are little menswear and are completely different then everything I own.

Those are pretty popular in England (brogues), and I don’t think it’s due to Kirsten Dunst. I dunno, they look different. I like it.

I’ve seen some cute gold and white pairs on the Anthropologie website, but I think the black ones are just hideous. They look like waiter shoes, or something you’d be forced to wear while working in a fast food kitchen.

please, no! especially on the men.

Ugh…I haven’t spotted this trend yet, but it soesn’t seem like one I’ll be up for. Then again, I’m always surprised

i think they have potential in certain colors..but not the black. either way, def. seems like a quick in-and-out trend to me..

I agree- not in black. My best friend sports a white pair that are amazing on her. If you can pull off the look I’m into it!

i have been wondering the same thing. . . and i think the fact that i am wondering if it is a good trend or not. . .that leads me to believe that i just can’t hang! i am leaning towards noo. . .

No way jose! Being a dancer I can safely say that cheeseball dance shoes are not attractive in dance class much less out and about on the streets. These are worse than the ballet flats with structured blocked, squared toes fashioned after legitimate pointe shoes. And then split-soled sneakers?! What is going on with these trends? They remind me of Sam & Libby’s I sported in the 5th grade:)

  11. Gisel Says:

Yes they are nice when used in moderation, but on men I prefer tap shoes!

Hello, just stumbled here from Susie Bubble’s site - I just wanted to add these shoes have also had a revival here in Paris for a while now, several years in fact, and are still poular - in both black and white. They are the “Zizi” model from Repetto (proper dance shoes), and they were most famously worn all the time by our beloved Serge Gainsbourg in his later years… C’est tout !

i would really like them if i weren’t thinking of them as being a “trend”. i guess it depends on whether the person can wear them without looking like a Trend Slave.

im over the soft, slipper-like shoe trend. They aren’t flattering on most and are uncomfortable. it is indeed a trend with the williamsburg set, but im waiting for chunky shoes to make a comeback. jazz shoes are so expected.

i love them! i’ve been looking and looking around the city but haven’t been able to find a good pair anywhere! does anyone have any suggestions?

You can get this pair from La Garcon for the price of $175, or if you are in the NY area I saw a similar pair at Mini Mini Market on Bedford Ave in Brooklyn (and I’m sure their pair is much more affordable).

i like ugly stuff that i think is cool and weird and turns out is unflattering when i look back on old pictures. so, yes….in a parisian librarian kinda way they are great.

it’s not what you wear but how you wear it! Also, the shape of the toe will be important. designers will quickly move on to a better shaped toe - not the typical dance shoe shape but shortened and more interesting point shape. georgeous materials and details will change your eye. I think trends don’t just come and go anymore. they just expand outward into more options until the market is saturated. the legging trend started out with basic black but now you see all kinds of textures, prints and stylings - something for everyone.

Jazz shoes. The most comfortable shoes you can ever wear. I have bought numerous pairs of the past 10 years or so. Great with trousers or jeans.
