Amy Sedaris: I like you…

Here’s another birthday gift I received,I Like You, by Amy Sedaris. It’s one of those books that I couldn’t rationalize buying for myself, but I’m happy to own it. It’s full of extremely funny suggestions for culinary feats as well as hard truths about manners. Within the first few pages I started to realize she had clearly put together a manners book for our generation. To my horror my friends and I have committed so many manners mistakes! There are simple rules such as, “don’t bring your dog to a dinner party” and “don’t try to out dress the hostess unless you are the guest of honor, 0r a transvestite”. It’s a great easy read, and it so humor filled that it can make anybody laugh out loud.

It seems every time I turn on NPR someone is interviewing Amy or David Sedaris. Not that I’m complaining, I adore them both! I need to check out this book all ready.

I keep meaning to browse this book to see if it’s worth buying but everyone who owns it loves it so much that I think I’m just going to have to pick it up.

I’ve only glimpsed the cover at Borders and such, so I didn’t know what the book was about or whether I’d be interested in reading it. But it sounds worthwhile, especially if it’s funny.
