The cold weather yesterday was making me crave all things cozy and warm. I stumbled upon Ruth Cross’s site, via adoleta and totally fell in love with all of her hand-knit items.

Okay, so I finally found a jazz shoe I actually love. The other day I received an anonymous tip regarding these adorable shoes by B. The online store, bStore London, carries the brand Marrie which has some really similar cute styles. I love how delicate they are, and in red, so unexpected!

Karen Walker Jewelry…

Karen Walker’s jewelery site is unreal. I love the creepy crawly product photography for her latest work. The lobster shot is my second fav, but I think that we all will agree that slipping the rings on the fish’s tail is amazingly brilliant.

Awesome…Isabela Capeto

Another lady mentioned in Sample, is Isabela Capeto. I remember the first time I ever saw one of her pieces in person, I felt like I had struck gold. She recently started selling her work at Barney’s, and it’s the kind of garments that attract your attention from waaaaay across the room. Although the above images look subdued, in person her pieces are not the case. They are an explosion of artwork from beading to embroidery to print, her pieces are always filled to the max with visual interest. Check out her site at http://www.isabelacapeto.com.br/.

Book to buy for yourself: Sample

Another amazing present I received this Christmas was the book, Sample, Cuttings from Contemporary Fashion. I am completely in love with this book, it’s jam packed of great pictures of some of my favorite designers, along with a bunch that I hadn’t heard of before (which is refreshing to me, as most fashion books just cover the main stream). This book is curated by many fashion greats, along with Alexander McQueen. One of my favorite finds from the book, as shown in the above pic is Mina Perhonen’s collection. The styling of the photoshoots are amazing, check out her site at http://www.mina-perhonen.jp/.

Amy Sedaris: I like you…

Here’s another birthday gift I received,I Like You, by Amy Sedaris. It’s one of those books that I couldn’t rationalize buying for myself, but I’m happy to own it. It’s full of extremely funny suggestions for culinary feats as well as hard truths about manners. Within the first few pages I started to realize she had clearly put together a manners book for our generation. To my horror my friends and I have committed so many manners mistakes! There are simple rules such as, “don’t bring your dog to a dinner party” and “don’t try to out dress the hostess unless you are the guest of honor, 0r a transvestite”. It’s a great easy read, and it so humor filled that it can make anybody laugh out loud.

Birthday Bliss: the Malory Boot

I’m planning on posting about some of the great presents I received from my friends and family, but first I must report on my favorite birthday present. After a long wait, I finally received the most amazing birthday present in the whole world in the mail yesterday. These boots are by Anna Sui for Anthropologie and I find them to be completely fabulous. Mine are a soft brown color which are no longer being offered, but if any of you ladies feel like splurging you can catch these in Navy (as shown above). The artwork is laser etched into the boot and features a variety of motifs, from griffins to castles. They are truly magical!

I’m in love. That is with Renata Morales, the Mexican-born, Montreal-based brand. I love the amazing prints and fabric manipulations. I recently became aware of them thanks to Refinery 29′s coverage of one of my most favorite cities, Montreal. If you happen to be shopping there, stop in to see these in person at 5392 Boulevard Saint-Laurent. Or if you can’t brave the cold, just check out www.renatamorales.com. Or check out their flickr set here.

Trend or Not? Jazz shoes…

So, I have a burning question for you all. What do we think about these shoes?
I keep seeing them pop up in photoshoots and so many of the cutest girls in Williamsburg are sporting them, but why do I hate the ideas of these pseudo jazz shoes so much??? Is this trend only happening because Kirsten Dust was seen sporting a white pair? What do you think, is this good or bad fashion?
