Headband Hysteria…

This weekend I was shocked to realize there was total headband hysteria in the accessories world. I can’t say that I really understand the above example. Every store I went into had these ill fitting lumpy headbands (I know they are supposed to emulate a head scarf without slipping in a Prada-esque way but I just think they look frumpy). This example is from Forever 21.

The second look that ever present was these head-wrap-meets elastic pieces. I think it just looks lazy, I don’t really understand what’s so hard about wrapping a scarf around ones head. This piece is from J.CREW.

And thirdly, I love this. I spotted Joy wearing one of these over the weekend, and it is super cute and looks great with dark hair. This one is from Urban Outfitters.

these wide headbands remind me of the ones sold all over vietnam in bright woven textiles. the forever 21 headband is especially frightening, it’s bordering on mennonite-wear, and not in a good way. but i like the feather headband, it has a lot of potential.

ok, i have to stick up for the JCREW headband. I bought the same one about 3 years ago, but it was reversible– with a striped fabric on one side and a mod floral design on the other. It looks really cute on and it takes the hassle out of tying a scarf around your head only to have it slide off. Definitely one of my favorites!

I have a penchant for feathers on the ivory crown - that and pretty much anything that different to accent the old noggin.
