Gobble Gobble…
Friday, November 28th, 2008Winter crazy outfit…
Monday, November 24th, 2008
Winter in Philadelphia is bitter. And, since I love to walk to work (it’s a 5 minute walk to the studio), and I must walk Joe our dog, venturing outside is a must. So, I’m on the hunt for a long down coat. It’s actually hard to find a full length down coat for some reason (Brooklyn Industries used to make one that was really ugly, but looked warm, but I haven’t found it anywhere on the web). So, it seems as though Bluefly has a decent selection of down coats.

And, long leather gloves are another must-have. These will keep out the draft in the wrist-cuff region, and they are cashmere lined which is a major plus.

And, a trapper hat. There is a really odd website, furhatworld.com, which has an amazing range of trapper style hats.

Birthday Wish List…
Thursday, November 20th, 2008
I love to cook, but I’ve never invested in a set of pots. Picking a set of pots is a very difficult task, there are so many options at so many different price ranges, with such varying reviews. I love the way stainless steel looks, but everyone in reviews seems to be dissatisfied with their ability to be cleaned easily. So, I switched to looking at easier clean options, like the Rachel Ray ones above. These are all on the small side for me, so I think I’d like to complete the set with the below 5-quart pan.

The other plus about this set is that is seems to be fairly lightweight. I love my Le Crueset dutch oven more than any other kitchen item, but it’s so heavy it’s not great for me when I’m boiling or braising, since it’s heavy for me when draining liquids out of the pan.

I’m also loving this block of knives. We have a mishmash of random knives we’ve picked up over the years, but since I cook so much, it would be so much more handy to grab these counter top ones, rather than digging for knives in drawers (ouch!).
Loving Christmas at Terrain…
Wednesday, November 19th, 2008
I am officially a Christmas junkie. Leo and I headed outside of the city over the weekend to see what was going on at Terrain at Styer’s, aka my favorite store in the world. I love all of the beautiful, artistic approaches to Christmas. Here are some wreaths that I’m loving. And, if you hurry you can order ones from the set designs and they will hand craft them just for you! Below are some other lovely options they offer.

Dog walking shoes…
Friday, November 14th, 2008
I’ve never been a casual shoe sort of person. I detest sneakers in most forms. But, since I have a dog, it means a lot of walking (early in the morning, the afternoon, and late at night). I’ve been slipping on a pair of hideous running shoes to walk Joe at night (and I’m terrified of anyone seing me in them, and I’m not totally sure why I even own running shoes, being that I never run…). So, I’m on the hunt for a casual pair of shoes to slip on to take a stroll around the block. I like these plaid sneakers from Urban, and the below crazy mocs from Free People.

Love it or hate it? Michelle Obama election night dress…
Sunday, November 9th, 2008
So, what do we all think of Michelle Obama’s election night dress choice? Above Michelle is wearing the more conservative version of the black and red Narciso Rodriguez runway piece shown on the right (from the Spring 09 collection).

Tons of cute, at Petulia’s Folly…
Saturday, November 8th, 2008
I ventured into center city this weekend to visit a friend over at Petulia’s Folly. It’s one of the best places in Philly to shop for cute home goods, gift ideas, and amazing clothing. I love the packaging of this 5 year diary. If you don’t get a chance to check out the store, you can also pick up this diary here instead.

Normally I’m not a John Derian fan, but this heart paperweight is especially cute, also available at Petullia’s Folly.

I picked up one of these amazing smelling Kobo soy candles. The Fresh Currant scent is my personal favorite. Also available here.
Christmas List…in pursuit of the perfect black cashmere sweater…
Tuesday, November 4th, 2008
I’m on the hunt for a few perfect winter sweaters. Since my studio is located in an old factory building, I need to stay bundled up in the winter time. I love this easy style by Splendid.

I’m also loving this ‘Academy Cardigan’ from JCREW.

This basic black v-neck is really cute too.
Christmas List…faux-fur throws…
Monday, November 3rd, 2008
I know they are soooo last year, but I still love these fun faux-fur throws from Pottery Barn. The Charcoal and the Frosted Taupe color are especially pretty.
Christmas List…
Sunday, November 2nd, 2008
Last year I purchased an amazing robe for Leo, and I’ve been envious ever since. Here is a really cozy looking robe from Pottery Barn, the white is so pretty it would make every day seem like a day at the spa. And for those of you that are looking for winter wedding gifts, a set of these could be an amazing wedding gift.
Yikes! Only 53 days until Christmas….
Saturday, November 1st, 2008Christmas List…for the kitchen
Saturday, November 1st, 2008
I’d love to get a Cuisinart, I’m an avid cook, and I’ve been attempting to use my blender as a food processor, but it just doesn’t work for certain items.

This fancy slow cooker looks amazing. It’s cast-aluminum insert allows for stove top braising!

Two of these pans would make preparing my weekly batch of granola soooo much easier.

And, to be totally frivolous, this cake is pretty much the cutest thing in the world. I’m always amazed by NordicWare, it must be one of the most amazing products to design, thinking, what can we bundt?

We never got around to getting a good set of pans, and although most things I can do without, a lightweight large pot is a true kitchen necessity.

I’ve mastered most of the Cooking Light slow cook recipes, and I’m on the hunt for something new to try. This book by Williams-Sonoma looks like a good challenge. Food Made Fast: Slow Cooker also looks interesting.
Christmas List…for us…bed and bath
Saturday, November 1st, 2008
Here is the second item on my christmas list. I’d love some fresh new towels from the Hotel Collection. The Pearl color is especially nice (grey is my favorite color). These towels offer not only the regular bath size, but also the bath sheet size, which sounds super amazing.

After reading an article in the Times about wrinkle free sheets, I’ve been slightly obsessed with the idea. I’m a total purist when it comes to sheets, and I can’t imagine sleeping on sheets under 400 thread count or colored sheets (ivory is about as colorful as I would ever go). I’d love to get a set of these 600 thread count wrinkle free sheets in white.

It’s a tradition of my mother’s to get us new pillow, every year. Usually I’ve only needed a 20×26 pillow (standard pillow size), but since I have an actual bedding set complete with fancy shams, I’m in dire need of 20×28 pillows to give that plush hotel-style look.
