It’s been a while since I’ve designed clothes, and lately I’ve been missing the sketching process. In my textile designs I’ve grown so accustomed to working on the computer that I no longer sketch out my designs first. I’ve been craving piles of papers and markers strewn about. I love the illustrations of
Garance Dore, so inspiring.

I’m a huge
Kris Chau fan, and for those of you in the Philly area she is having a solo show at
Vagabond boutique. The show is entitled “you folks”, all new paintings and new drawings for you and me. The opening is February 8th from 6pm-10pm, and the show will be up until March 2nd. See you there!

I just came across the work of illustrator
Chrissie Abbott. Her various typographies and collages are awesome. Definitely check out her site, and the two page illustration she created for the February issue of
Nylon.

I recently came across the amazing illustrations of local artist, Kirk Hiatt. Since working for
MoonblooD, I’ve grown quite an affinity for wolves and love his graphite interpretation. My favorite, however, is this sharpie and india ink abstraction. Check out more of Kirk’s work
here.

I recently bought illustrator Keri Smith’s new DIY book, The Guerilla Art Kit. The book hones in on the concept that art is for everyone, and shares tons of fun guerilla art installation ideas. My favorite project was the “You Are Here” map, which can be created by simply mounting a map of your town and then pointing out your location with markers or stickers. Your can check out Keri’s blog
here.

I just bought this amazing typography book called Hand Job. The book features tons of hand drawn lettering by a number of well known artists. It’s an endless source of inspiration and I’m totally obsessed.

I love the work of sign artist Jeff Canham. The above untitled work is my favorite because it reminds me of the summer.

I’ll be away from my computer for a few days while I’m at the Direction Textile Show in NY. I’ll be back on Monday or Wednseday!
