I was paging through Tiny Showcase and came across a print by artist Jeana Sohn which immediately caught my attention.  It’s so lovely, but unfortunately sold out.  The above image is a painting which is on her site.  I love the Russian story book feeling to her pieces.  They are minimal in coverage but incredibly narrative.

Untitled-31.jpg
Here are some of my favorite images from Damian Weinkrantz (philadelphia’s favorite bar bouncer)’s new zine, General Truths. The sadness in the general’s eyes is so haunting. I’m totally obsessed with this zine, I keep paging through it over and over again. It’s now available at Market East (a great website jam packed with local Philly artists) for a mere $3.

Movie to watch: Monsieur Ibrahim

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006
Untitled-1.jpg
I just watched Monsieur Ibrahim last night, and I must say it’s the most beautiful movie I’ve seen in a long time. The story centers around a handful of prostitutes that befriend Moses (the boy in the pic). All of the prostitutes have the best clothing and all of the rooms in the film are covered with the most exquisite wallpaper, bedding, and pillows. This movie is a great inspiration for all you design minded readers.

I love these collages by Birdie Lusch. They are fashioned out of old postage stamps, magazine clippings, and interjections of her line work. Birdie was a self taught artist who spent her life laboring in a ball bearing factory, and made these imaginative collages in her free time. To see more of her work check out KS Art’s website.
