Leo and I just returned from a mini vacation in Providence, RI. The 5 hour drive can be excruciating, but thanks to the iphone and reading these two blogs aloud the drive went by much faster. The first and my new favorite is thecelebrityperfumery.com, which my dear friend Elspeth has started. It’s a hysterical concept, basically she does amazing drawings of celebrities and then jots down what a perfume would smell like if it were an actual representation of said celebrity. And, then there is always the super self-deprecating, stuffwhitepeoplelike.com.

Well, what kind of fashion blog would this be if I didn’t mention the Golden Globes. I’m not really a gown sort of girl, but here are some ladies that deserve an honorable mention. I always love Chloë Sevigny, in a vintage Yves Saint Laurent I think it’s great that she opted to wear a print. No matter how wacky her looks always are, she always looks contemporary and fun. The only thing I didn’t ‘get’ about the styling was the shoes, they were too chunky. I love Sienna Miller’s milk maid hair, but the Marchesa dress was a bit stuffy for her. And last but not least, Jennifer Garner, in Gucci looked nice and elegant. I love the simplicity of her dress and her casual and modern approach to hair and makeup.

I’m not sure why being on a TV show gives license for runway disasters like this. This is a bomb of bad taste…yuck.

Two months ago I told my pseudo-boyfriend that I really hoped that Pink made a video making fun of all the blonde pop-tarts. He replied: you don’t even like Pink. It’s true, that I don’t like her music., but she’s the only one that would do something awesome like that…And then she did.

Before stepping out last evening I took some time to indulge in E!’s special on the Sex and the City’s style. Although the ladies from SITC are typically well dressed, Sarah Jessica Parker did make a bad fashion decision back at the 58th Golden Globes. It’s not that Sarah Jessica Parker’s dress was awful, it just wasn’t good. And then, as I was paging through the paper this morning it all came together…

Reese Witherspoon got screwed with Kristen Dunst’s hand-me-down gown. We need to ask ourselves what makes something vintage? Is last season vintage? Or does something need to recede from fashion for 2o years to become honorably vintage?
The gown is from Chanel’s 2002 couture collection. According to Chanel’s publicist Gretchen Fenton, the gown actually isn’t considered vintage. Fenton said, the term vintage, long used to classify dresses from bygone eras, has become “very vague” and is a “new way” to define apparel not available in recent designer collections.
What do you think?

Natalie Portman and Keira Knightley are my picks for the best dressed girls of the evening at the Golden Globes. Strapless was definitely the way to go. Natalie looks awesome in her vintage Chanel Haute Couture and her simple makeup/hair look was relieving compared to all the overdone ladies at the Globes. Keira also looked pretty good, the sutach embroidery on her Valentino gown actually looks stunning, but maybe I’m just saying that because Missoni has been making sutach look like the next big embellishment trend…

I loved it on Balenciaga’s runway and I love it on preggers Gwyneth Paltrow. I wonder if B will make me my maternity clothes…

It was recently brought to my attention that there is a British knockoff of my beloved Project Runway, theirs goes by the fresh name of Project Catwalk. Just like our show, the UK version gives twelve talented and hungry fashion designers the opportunity of a lifetime - a chance to have their collection shown at London Fashion Week. The winner also gets a small pile of money and a mentorship with the Top Shop design team (which is way better than blah Banana Republic). Last year’s Project Runway winner, Jay, didn’t even accept the Banana Republic internship.

I’m sorry but one of the main things I’m waiting for in fashion is to be able to wear my cowboy boots again. Hopefully in the divorce settlement nick will ban Jessica Simpson from wearing hers any more and slowly the too-late trendy minions will leave all their steve madden cowboy boots at the back of their closets with their gaucho pants and sparkly Chinatown slippers and those tiered skirts. Then and only then will I be able to wear the cowboy boots I’ve loved and lost since the 90’s without worrying someone will mistake me for a complete asshole. I tried my favorite pair on last week, but, alas, it is still too soon.

The 2006 Golden Globes are coming up, and everyone is buzzing about who is going to wear what. I’ve complied this picture as my prediction for Scarlett’s attire for the occasion. Kaufman says of Johansson for People’s site ‘She’s a red-carpet chameleon – that’s why she’s so much fun to watch,’. Scarlett will be attending the event as a best supporting actress nominee for Match Point. This risk-taker has worn Roland Mouret and Marchesa in the past, and apparently is open to experimentation. With that being said this Yohji Yamamoto dress should be her natural choice.
