What etsy is all about
Thursday, February 23rd, 2006
Some of you may already be familiar with Etsy. It’s a relatively new website where craftsters from all over the world sell their handmade crafts. It seems that it’s easy to get started and there are already loads of cute and interesting things for sale. There are ton’s of people selling handspun yarns; dolls from japan and china. Check it out, it’s a whole lot of addictive fun. You can browse by the location of the person, by color (as shown above) or travel back in time seeing when things were posted. For the whole site they’re using a fun new approach to website functionality called AJAX, sorta like google maps, which makes it all the more enjoyable to use. I also find almost everything extremely reasonable priced. Here are two doll makers that I really liked.
Two of Hearts…

Here is a cute idea for a quick Valentine’s Day gift. You can give a handful of little hearts; string them to be a bracelet, or beef up your wrapping job on the perfect gift by plopping a heart on top. I haven’t worked out the pattern yet, but it seems that all it takes is some keen double crocheting skills and a little hand stitching for the heart’s facial expressions. And with the presence of red on the runways, this gift is very trend appropriate.

Here’s a link for a knitting pattern that I think I’ll try tomorrow. This ‘model’ used is not really the best choice for the piece, but the concept is pretty good. The pattern is written for handknitting but I’m going to try it on my knitting machine, I’ll keep you posted on how it turns out!
