New York Look…

I’m obsessed with New York Magazine’s fashion spin-off, New York Look. More like a primary source rather than your typical fashion mag, New York Look breaks down all of the best collections of the S/S ‘08 season. Not only are you given access to color, silhouette, and beauty trends, but you also get to see all the juicy, not-so-publicized details of fashion week, including runway backdrops, front row attendees, and designer inspirations. My favorite spread, titled “From Every Angle,” gave a photographic montage of all the front row and backstage action.

Marimekko for H&M…

I’m so excited about Marimekko’s collaboration with H&M, which is due to launch this April. The collection of men’s, women’s and children’s apparel will feature the firm’s signature prints from the 50s through the 70s. I can’t wait to get my hands on one of the tunic dresses!

Anna Sui vs. Forever 21

Anna Sui gave these t-shirts as a part of the goodie bags at her Spring 08 show. The shirt bears the faces of Don and Jin Chang, the owners of Forever 21. The shirt says, “thou shalt not steal”. I love it.

Kate Moss for Topshop

Everywhere I look it’s Kate mania. But I have to say I love the way Kate Moss’s collection for Topshop seems to look, although anything modeled by her or Irina looks good. I’ve yet to see any pieces in person, but I’m thinking about checking some of the pieces out at Barneys Co-Op (in 8 days they will have some of the pieces). And, the other notable thing is the graphic design on the Barneys site and the Topshop site (both look fabulous).

A few things worth knowing about…

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

Ever since I moved back to Philadelphia (from NY) I feel as though I’ve been living in a cave. So, you may already know about these two topics, but in case you didn’t I highly recommend them both:

1) Current TV-my new favorite tv network. It’s mostly comprised of viewer created content ‘pods’. It cycles through pods on fashion, the environment, politics, art, culture, and everything else a hipster would need to know about. If you don’t have cable you can still check out some of their programs via the web. So far I’ve seen pods on Single Dress, Alice+Olivia both of which were greatly inspiring.currenttv.com

2)Fashion Wire Daily, it’s a great daily email which keeps you posted on fashion news. So, as soon as Marc checks into rehab, you know about it. Very essential.www.fashionwiredaily.com

New obsession…Heritage 1981

heritage_1981.jpg
Okay, so I now have a new shopping obsession…Heritage 1981. Now, I have to admit I felt old having been born before 1981, but I took a deep breath and managed to enter the store to be welcomed by soooo many cute affordable pieces. Heritage is owned by Forever 21 but is a bit more of a preppy combination of Free People meets Hollister. The prices are a little bit higher ($25-$50), than Forever 21, but still cheaper than H&M. The fabrications are much nicer, i.e. yarn dyed plaids galore, heavy printed knits in fun shapes, and lots of great distressed and faded looking historical style prints. But for all of you 9-5ers there are no career clothes and absolutely no club clothes. There is a decent sized men’s section even in this pint sized King of Prussia, PA location with men’s tees priced around $12. There are a few strange overlaps between Forever 21, such as a few of the same prints in slightly different ‘bodies’, and the accessories carry Forever 21’s packaging. I’d like to be more fooled by their branching of labels, but overall I’m totally obsessed.

64th Annual Golden Globes…

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007
golden_globes1.jpg
Well, what kind of fashion blog would this be if I didn’t mention the Golden Globes. I’m not really a gown sort of girl, but here are some ladies that deserve an honorable mention. I always love Chloë Sevigny, in a vintage Yves Saint Laurent I think it’s great that she opted to wear a print. No matter how wacky her looks always are, she always looks contemporary and fun. The only thing I didn’t ‘get’ about the styling was the shoes, they were too chunky. I love Sienna Miller’s milk maid hair, but the Marchesa dress was a bit stuffy for her. And last but not least, Jennifer Garner, in Gucci looked nice and elegant. I love the simplicity of her dress and her casual and modern approach to hair and makeup.

Enjoy!

Project Catwalk Week 2 Review

Sunday, January 29th, 2006

As many of you know the second episode of Project Catwalk aired about a week and a half ago on Skyone. It took quite a while for it to show up on the torrent sites but it finally appeared earlier this week.

FrostFrench Project Catwalk Week 2

This episode the designers were given a lesson in fashion by the Sadie Frost and Jemima French of the FrostFrench designer duo. Sadie and Jemima wasted no time getting into the thick of it with the contestants challenging them to describe themselves in a ‘word’. Everyone was able to respond pretty quickly except for Zoe who decided to have some sort of fit about being put on the spot, a sure foreshadowing of troubles to come.

*Spoiler Warning* (Winner and Loser Revealed)
