I’m a huge
Kris Chau fan, and for those of you in the Philly area she is having a solo show at
Vagabond boutique. The show is entitled “you folks”, all new paintings and new drawings for you and me. The opening is February 8th from 6pm-10pm, and the show will be up until March 2nd. See you there!

So I haven’t been posting much lately, and it’s because Leo and I have been insanely busy. Over the last couple weeks, we’ve adopted a darling geriatric dachshund- chihuahua, bought a house, and both of our cars were totaled by a drunk driver. So, basically things have been crazy in both in good and bad ways. So, we are going to have a guest blogger here at Seamsters, Louise. I am going to be focusing my energies on working on my home renovations and will be posting the process and progress at amyandleo.com. I’ll also post some highlights here at Seamsters.

I’m looking forward to checking out these crocheted pieces at
Art Star. They are by
Emily Barletta, whose work is hand crocheted to reference imaginary body structures.

Yesterday I ran into Zoe (one of the original founders of Seamsters). Zoe always has the best outfits, and here is a shining example. I love that she’s glamorous enough to be traipsing around on a Wednesday in an
Olga Kapustina silk chiffon dress. But most importantly she’s wearing
gladiator sandals. I’ve been meaning to post about them for a while now, but I was waiting to see a real person actually pulling it off, and well here it is.

As some of you may know, Leo and I have a textile studio in Philadelphia. I just wanted to let you all know that our website is newly redesigned (you can see it
here) and we have a video on there showing what a typical day is like at Printfresh. Enjoy!

Hi Everyone, sorry I haven’t had a chance to write for the last few days. I’ve been hard at work, I’ll be back after the weekend.

This weekend I dropped into Vagabond (one of my favorite boutiques in Philly) and I finally got to see this Mociun dress in person. I love how feed-sack inspired it is, and the large scale blackbird print is gorgeous.

Lately I’ve had a lot of people asking me what it is that I do during my days. And my answer to that is, I direct a textile swatch studio in Philadelphia called
Printfresh. Many of you are probably not familiar with this aspect of the fashion industry. The gist of it is that when apparel companies need artwork for their garments and want a fresh look from outside their artwork department they turn to swatch studios who come and show their work. It’s a great way for apparel companies to look at artwork, select pieces that suit their needs, and send it off to their production facilities right away (cutting down on lengthy artwork development stages).
All of the artwork that we as well as other swatch studios create is one of kind a kind and only sold once, this ensures that no two apparel companies will have the same artwork on their garments.

This weekend Leo and I went to check out a new men’s wear shop on 3rd Street that I totally love called
Deep Sleep. It’s merchandise is slightly hip-hop inspired (BTW-hip-hop t’s are taking over whether we like it or not), and the store reminds me a bit of Colette in Paris. They also have an art gallery in the upstairs which is worth checking out. There is an exhibit by
Carina Romano showing at the moment (the shot above is a piece from the show).

Lately I’ve been working like crazy, and while designing I’ve been listening to tons of music. Although I typically write about fashion, I wanted to share my new favorite bands because I always find it difficult to find new interesting music. So here are the bands/albums that I like the most at this very moment:

I love these toile de jouy slips by
Free People. They are so cute and could even double as a dress if I wished. Such a nice contrast from the normal sort of lingerie you see at the typical stores.
