Bold Is the New Black…

Sunday, May 21st, 2006
This week I’m dedicating my posts to all that is bold. Summer is upon us, and there is no better time for bold bright and playful prints. Mary Blair’s illustrations and Vera’s textiles exemplify this look the best.
Enjoy!

I love this cute screen printed cami, from Urban, it’s so Ossie Clark! This teapot that I picked up at Open House (107 S 13th St Philadelphia, PA 19107) also brews up the same graphic playfulness.

*PS. Open House is owned by the same people who own and operate Lolita, the best Mexican restaurant we’ve ever been to.

As we at Seamsters predicted back in January, long dresses are super trendy. I love the print and cool 70′s feeling of this Anthropologie dress.

Design Master Eric Elms

Friday, May 12th, 2006

Came across an interview with Eric Elms at BEINGHUNTED, and decided to check him out. Turns out he’s behind the design of my current favorite t-shirt from OBEY (pictured in the middle). It is nice to see someone who can step out of Illustrator for a minute to make a t-shirt. Vetor graphics are out!

Leroy Jenkins

Just came across Leroy Jenkins clothing, I don’t know much about them or where to get them, although I suspect that they may be at Colette. I also found this interview (where the picture is from). Their prints are just wild. Besides the one above, I also love the red printed hoody.

Vera Cute Flowers

Check out this super cute book by Yukari Miyagi which tells the Aesop’s fabel of the ‘Tortoise and the Hare’. I found this and many other amazing books at Spoonbill&Surgartown (the best hipster bookstore on Bedford Ave).
